Photo of the Week #5
There was nothing special happened during these week, except the deaths of two gold fishes. The two gold fishes have been accompanied with me for more than one and a half year. I totally have no idea why they died so suddenly and unexpectedly. Am I talking too much about my sadness and happiness with them? What is even wired is that they died together. I think they do not want to be lonely…
I took a picture of the fish long time ago and capture their deaths this week. I really like the light reflect on the scale when I used flash. The scale looks really shine. Anyway, I feel so sad about their deaths.
The third photo are just strawberries. I joint two strawberry photos together for no particular reason, just for fun. But I feel the picture becomes more rich.

Photo of the Week #4
I tend to show the theme “Escape” in this photo of the week. I actually don’t know why I am getting a little bit sad even depressed recently maybe because of the pressure from my IELTS test or the school courses are getting harder in term three. So I suddenly came up a though to escape while I was doing my chemistry review.
Obviously, portraits are not really my thing because I always feel I can’t catch the soul of a person or whatever, I just feel the portraits I take do not make any sense to anything. This time, the photo It were like a girl trying to escape from a heavy forest and she is feeling absolutely lost just like myself. I do not contain any certain focus subject because I think the feel of lost is you don’t have clear direction and aim, you just are hesitating and aimlessly pacing around. I edited these photos with a phone photography editor rather than Photoshop, I changed the color and make it brighter, more contrastive and add a lot of noise in order to create a feeling of lost. Anyway, I feel way better and more positive after I express my idea through photography.

Photo of the Week #3
Wow! My mom just bought me a film camera this week which is a little bit overtime but I was eager for purchasing one because I really like vintage style and it is hard and imperfect to Photoshop a photo to be like old-fashioned. I could not wait to give it a try before I figured out all the techniques so I immediately called my friend to be my model for some portraits.
Honestly, it is nothing particularly special in the three photos, just a blue girl pacing in the balcony looking sad but I do appreciate the sun light coming up so strong at that day so that I got some inspirations of using the light reflection. I captured these three photos from three different angles and added some light noise to make the photos look more like old movies. Next time, I will try nature views or street views with film camera.
It is interesting when people bring all the old things back, add some modern stuff and restart the popularity in another century again. I am not a person who always longs for the old days, but there are really many nice things in the old day remained forever.

Photo of the Week #2
This week I created and captured some really fun things. I was watching cartoon while I was eating some snacks and suddenly I came up some ideas that I can combine the snacks with my doodling. Then these pictures were created, just like that.
I think photography is something more than photography skills. It also related to novel creations. So actually, I focused on my creation rather than professional techniques this time. Like I said, my photo are just product of my life style and originality. If there is someday when I look at those my old photos, I still can remember what I use to be but maybe am no longer.

Hot dog cart is a very common mobile food stand for preparing and selling street food, especially hot dog in Canada. Although the hot dog is considered an American food invention dating back to New York in the late 19th century, carts getting popular in Canada and even other countries all around the world.
When I first came to Canada and I ask what is the most typical and delicious food that I must give a try in Vancouver. They recommended me hot dog sold in hot dog cart in downtown Vancouver. I seldom went to downtown, but anyway I finally tasted a beef hot dog when I went to watch the Christmas Parade with my friends. Actually, I felt nothing different when it was just two pieces of bread and a hot dog. But it was really amazing after I added barbecue sauce and hot peppers. And I took a photo of hot dog cart at night in Vancouver.
So hot dog is kind of the first thing about food I learned about Canada culture. There are a lot of things more traditional that I will learn about Canada. It feels really interesting when you get to know cultures different than our own and it will ell people something beautiful and good about a country and reduce the social racial discrimination.

My photography actually are fragments of my life, they are just pictures which express my attitude towards my life.
As we are requested to do a free theme photo of the week.It is totally a relief for me as I usually hang out aimlessly to take some photos. While I waked into the CB2 which is a furniture store, I was attracted by the pure, transparent and regular organized glass container. The light reflected on the glass bottle is really wonderful.
I focus on the light reflection on the glass to highlight the shine. This series of photo of the week was actually inspired by my life style: simple, innocent, pure and organized. Most important is shine. I focus on the light reflection on the glass to highlight the shine.

The photography I chose is Josef Holfehner who is one of "Ausrria's 10 Best Contemporary Artists". He is well known for the series "Jet Airliner" which is a very interesting series and he put a lot of effort on it, waiting near the airport every in order to capture some great photos. His photos are basically very clean and have the power to make people calm down, that's why I really admire him and wish to be a good photography just like him.
My partner and I chose his building series as an inspiration for our project and we used black and white to demonstrate the buildings in downtown. I really like how the lines on the building look like, just as they have connected together. |
